VIRUS-HOST INTERACTIONS RESEARCH

The Virus-Host Interaction Research Group at the National Laboratory of Virology concentrates on understanding virus-host interactions, a fundamental aspect of virology that plays a critical role in the emergence and spread of infectious diseases. Armed with high-level biosafety knowledge and extensive virological experience, our team's research extensively covers newly emerging and significant viruses at biosafety levels BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4. By unraveling the intracellular molecular mechanisms of infection, we gain a more accurate understanding of virus-cell interactions and cellular responses to viral infections. A unique aspect of our work involves supplementing traditional 2D cell cultures with 3D organotypic models. This approach allows for the examination of a more complex system that better simulates real infections, thus presenting a more comprehensive research portfolio in virology within our group.
