NATIONAL LABORATORY OF VIROLOGY

In an era where infectious diseases pose a global threat, impacting society and public health, national and international collaboration is essential for managing these risks. Recent years have seen a rise in new infectious diseases, emphasizing the need for advanced research and response strategies.
The National Laboratory of Virology, located within the Szentágothai Research Centre, primarily focuses on the study of viral zoonoses - diseases that transmit from animals to humans. These pathogens often lead to severe, sometimes fatal infections, highlighting the necessity for high-level expertise and well-equipped laboratory infrastructure.
Our state-of-the-art BSL-4 laboratory in Pécs provides an optimal environment for conducting cutting-edge research. Here, we combine professional competence with advanced technology to address these complex health challenges, striving to enhance Hungary's capacity to respond to emerging infectious diseases.
