The 1st International Conference on Hungarian Biosafety

Dear Participant,

Biosafety is one of the most critical and complex issues of our time, playing a key role in public health, research, and various industrial sectors. Proper biosafety systems not only protect laboratory personnel but also ensure that biological research and innovations take place in a safe environment. In Hungary, numerous high-containment laboratories (HCLs) and other institutions are actively implementing biosafety guidelines at an outstanding level.

The 1st International Conference on Hungarian Biosafety was established to create a platform where national and international experts can share their experiences, explore collaboration opportunities, and jointly discuss the current issues of biosafety. As a gap-filling event, our goal is to bring together the Hungarian biosafety community, providing a stage for showcasing national achievements and development opportunities.
As a higher education institution and a source for the next generation of professionals, our greatest responsibility is to build bridges between national authorities, industry stakeholders, and research institutions. The idea for our event was born in this spirit.

When people hear the term "biosafety," many think of a thin plastic layer that protects laboratory workers from various infectious agents. However, biosafety is much more than that. It encompasses the entire laboratory, its equipment, the engineering expertise behind them, good laboratory practices, and everything that contributes to working safely with biologically hazardous materials. Furthermore, biosafety is also a community—one consisting of researchers, experts, technicians, engineers, and many other professionals. With this conference, our aim is to bring this community together and provide an opportunity for those interested in biosafety in Hungary, as well as related organizations, to continue their work with expanded international experiences and new opportunities.
